Spring Colors!
I want to wear bright, punchy, citrus-inspired colors this spring! After a long winter, there’s nothing like bright colors to make you feel happy and alive.
Have you watched the documentary on photographer Bill Cunningham? He is so inspiring, always searching for beauty everywhere and appreciating the beauty of fashion. No, fashion might not fix all of the very pressing issues at hand in our lives and in the world, but it does give us a way to enjoy ourselves each day, to bring color and inspiration to the world around us. And that is a beautiful thing.
So here’s a little color inspiration for your spring.
New blues.
I just finished these pants. What do you think? I love the ankle-length style, so I think that I’ll be making all of my pants that length this spring!
My favorite thing about these is that I put in pockets. There are certain details that make all the difference in clothes, and pockets are always that detail for me. I love it when I find them in dresses and skirts!
As I’m looking forward to spring with serious longing, I can’t help thinking about wearing pretty flowered dresses again. My favorite one (shown here), of course, has pockets.
What are you looking forward to wearing this spring?
Boots and Orange Shag Carpet
As odd as it may seem to admit, these two items have been dominating my life at present.
Ben and I are on a month-and-a-half-long visit to Missoula, Montana, where he will be showing his work at the Brink Gallery. Only a few days after reaching Montana relatively snow-free, thank you God, we got dumped on: two feet! It seemed like a fitting beginning. I started with snow boots, switched to cowboy boots (I’m out west), and as the snow melted, have graduated down to my Minnetonkas (passed on to me from my friend Kate – thanks!). I’m glad I brought them all.
Since we’re only here for a short time, we’re renting a room in a house with another couple. They’re very sweet, like to cook, and appreciate the cookies I bake, which makes me like them even more. Our room is a cool loft/converted attic space, definitely done in the seventies. It’s got a nice heater, and some serious shag carpet. Sometimes I like to hang out up there, in our cozy little room. It’s just us, and the orange shag carpet.
